M – O – T – H – E – R
“M” is for the million things she gave me,

“O” means only that she’s growing old,

“T” is for the tears she shed to save me,

“H” is for her heart of purest gold;

“E” is for her eyes, with love-light shining,

“R” means right, and right she’ll always be,

Put them all together, they spell
“MOTHER,“

In Canada,people celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May each year.Many Canadians honor their mothers by showing their appreciation for mothers or mother figures.Mother figures may include step-mothers, mothers-in-law, guardians (eg. foster parents), and family friends.

What do people do?
Each year on the second Sunday of May,is a time for Canadians to thank mothers and mother figures who support you,bring up you and make you so awesome.The celebration of Mother’s Day can make sons and daughters realize how much their mother has done for them for years, and all the efforts and sacrifice that their mother has made for their sake.

Children must do whatever they can to help their mother and make her happy on Mother’s Day.take mom out for a great meal in a famous restaurant she loves most. Some mothers may receive costly gift,such as jewelry, clothing, accessories, but flowers are the favorite.

Public life
While,Mother’s Day is not a federal holiday although it is on Sunday,Many organizations, schools, and government offices will closed. Public transit systems run to their normal Sunday schedules and restaurants may be busier than usual as some people take their mothers out for a great meal.

Background and symbols
The celebration of Mother’s Day began in the United States in the early 20th century.the carnation flower is regarded as dedicated to his mother in both Canada and the United States. Some people may choose to wear a carnation as a brooch on Mother’s Day. However, other flowers are also given to mothers or mother figures to symbolize one’s love and appreciation for them.

About Mother’s Day in other countries
Many other countries of the world celebrate their own Mother’s Day at different times throughout the year. Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia, and Belgium celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday in May, as in the U.S. The date and name may vary from one country to another but the purpose is the same ——to express the love, gratitude, and reverence one feels for his or her mother.
