TN-331 & 336 Toner Reset Instruction

Have you ever experienced the “No Toner” printer problem after installing a new toner cartridge or laser drum unit? No toner error is also called unrecognized cartridge error, it means the printer cannot recognize the replacement item. When this happens, you may be quite confused, it is a new toner cartridge, and there’s plenty of toner left in the cartridge, why the is printer showing error  messages like “Toner Low”, “Replace Toner” or “Toner Life End”. Don’t fret, it is common for Brother Printers, and every problem has a solution. It’s easy to reset the low toner messages and get your printer back to work. The following is a step by step instruction on how to reset and install a new Brother TN331&336 Toner Cartridges:

For MFC Series Printers:

1. Open the front door of the printer to access the cartridges.
2. Press the Clear button and the Reset Menu will appear on the display or press the number 1 quickly.
3. Select the toner cartridge that needs to be reset.
   a) K.TNR-STD Standard Yield Black
   b) C.TNR-STD Standard Yield Cyan
   c) M.TNR-STD Standard Yield Magenta
   d) Y.TNR-STD Standard Yield Yellow
   e) K.TNR-HC High Yield Black
   f) C.TNR-HC High Yield Cyan
   g) M.TNR-HC High Yield Magenta
   h) Y.TNR-HC High Yield Yellow
4. Once you have selected your cartridge, press the OK button to select it and again press the OK button to accept the modification.
5. Close the front door and your printer is now ready to print.

For HL Series Printers:

1. Open the front door of the printer to access the cartridges.
2. Press and Hold the Cancel and Secure buttons simultaneously to access the Reset Menu.
3. With the Down Arrow, locate the cartridge to reset. The first letter represents the color, TNR for Toner cartridge and the last characters represent the capacity or cartridge volume.
4. Select the toner cartridge that needs to be reset.
   a) K.TNR-STD Standard Yield Black
   b) C.TNR-STD Standard Yield Cyan
   c) M.TNR-STD Standard Yield Magenta
   d) Y.TNR-STD Standard Yield Yellow
   e) K.TNR-HC High Yield Black
   f) C.TNR-HC High Yield Cyan
   g) M.TNR-HC High Yield Magenta
   h) Y.TNR-HC High Yield Yellow
5. Once you have selected your cartridge, press the OK button to select the cartridge and the Up Arrow to accept the modification.
   a) K.TNR-STD Standard Yield Black
   b) C.TNR-STD Standard Yield Cyan
   c) M.TNR-STD Standard Yield Magenta
   d) Y.TNR-STD Standard Yield Yellow
   e) K.TNR-HC High Yield Black
   f) C.TNR-HC High Yield Cyan
   g) M.TNR-HC High Yield Magenta
   h) Y.TNR-HC High Yield Yellow
6. Close the front door and your printer is now ready to print.
