It has since grown to Canada, France, Japan, Australia, India and New Zealand. Quite possibly there are more countries that have adopted this term. Needless to say, it has become an international term that everyone understands is the second busiest shopping day of the year and a part of the holiday shopping kick-off.

Perhaps shopping online is simply more convenient and less hectic than shopping in brick and mortar stores and dealing with traffic, lines and the craziness of shoppers. Some say that many forgo Black Friday shopping in favour of family time, thus making it are a substitute shopping day. $7.8 billion dollars was spent in 2018 on that day. The highest sales to date.
