HP TouchPad sold out?

It seems that HP TouchPad has finally caught on people’s attention by reducing the price dramatically from  the original $499.99 to now $99.99, kind of sacarstic right?  Many commentary believe that the HP’s killer plan of WebOS has put their TouchPad into hibernation, however, the extreme price drop has hit on Canada last Friday, coming as the result that people are fighting for this tiny tablet from Best Buy, Futureshop or even Wal-Mart, currently the HP TouchPad are all listed as “sold out” according to their individual web sites.

According to the forum SlickDeal.net, it has mentioned few merchants that listing with the TouchPad which sells at the same cheap price were already sold out, even HP itself has announced that their price for HP TouchPad would be $99.99 for 16gigabye and $149.99 for 32gigabyte  proportionally.

Recently, we have heard many complains from our customers regard to the higher price that we charged and we are sincerely sorry for the problems which we caused, to be honest, we did not have any intention to take any advantage of this crazy sale, in fact, if you have been visiting our website, you might notice that our price for the HP touchpad has been stable, instead of increasing, we have been dropping the price twice, we did not raise the price while this sale of HP happened, however, we can not bear the loss by matching the price to others too, so by solving such issue, we 123ink.ca have decided to discontinue selling all our “HP TouchPad” products at our store and sorry again for all the inconvenience that we have caused.

Sorry, pal. You may charge a bit more than the firesale price, but stop gouging like all the unethical sellers on Craigslist and Kijiji. Follow the policy practice by HP and reward your customers!

    Andrew,

You restored my faith in your company. I think your change in policy is apt and appropriate given the circumstances. I agree that it is unfair for you to absorb the loss (though HP has announced today that all vendors will be reimbursed); so if you are unable to follow HP’s repricing, then you should withdraw the product from your site as you have now done. Well done!

123InkCartridges.ca didn’t cause the problem; HP did, by trying to “dump” their stock at “fire sale” prices, which put dealers in an “awkward” position.

“Usually reliable sources” tell me Future Shop/Best Buy returned about 10,000 units to HP so expect to see the “$500.00 TouchPad”, at clearance/discount outlets, for sixty or seventy dollars, within the next few weeks.

Whether or not WebOS is “dead” is debatable and Linux or even Android are, IMNSHO, preferable, in any case.
