Have problem with your cartridges after refilling? We 123ink.ca are providing you a general trouble shooting for your Refill kits.
What should I do if the printer does not print after refilling the cartridge?
1. Step 1: Run the print-head cleaning mechanism (described in your inkjet printer’s manual) and attempt to
print a few pages.
2. Step 2: If this procedure does not work, using the syringe supplied in your refill kit, inject air into the
top air vent to clean the nozzles. A small amount of ink should be emitted from the nozzles upon injection. (The nozzle is the porous metal piece at the bottom of the cartridge)
3. Step 3: If this procedure does not work your print-head nozzles are probably blocked with dried ink. At
this point use the syringe to take out as much ink as possible from your cartridge and read on to the next section.
What should I do if my print quality is poor after refilling?
Just follow these 4 simple steps:
1. Step 1: Using a soft tissue or cotton swab clean any ink from the nozzles.
2. Step 2: Reinstall the cartridge, run the print-head cleaning mechanism (described in your printer’s manual)
and attempt to print again.
3. Step 3: Poor print quality may also be a sign of overfilling your inkjet cartridge. If this is the case,
use the syringe to take out the extra ink and attempt to print again.
4. Step 4: If it still does not print properly, you might have some air left in your cartridge. Using the
syringe, take the air from your cartridge, run the print-head cleaning mechanism (described in your printer’s
manual) and attempt to print again.
What should I do if the printer will not recognize the cartridge after refilling?
1 Turn on the printer and remove both cartridges
2 Place both cartridges in front of you so that you can see the contact foil, with the nozzles facing
downwards
3 With adhesive tape, cover the FOUR upper contact points on the far left contact column of both cartridges
4 Reinsert the two cartridges and close the cover
5 Open the cover again after 2 or 3 seconds
6 Wait until the printer gives you the cartridge carriage (If there seems to be a problem with either of the
cartridges, ignore it)
7 Open the cover and remove the two cartridges
8 Place both cartridges in front of you so that you can see the contact foil, with the nozzles facing
downwards
9 Remove the adhesive tape
10 Clean the contacts, reinsert the cartridges and close the cover.

Hi! I’m getting the cartridge not recognized, using a canon pixma ip1800. I desperately NEED your little trick to work, but I’m confused as to which contact points to cover. Do I cover the 4 at thevery top (in a straight line)? above it says: 3 With adhesive tape, cover the FOUR upper contact points on the far left contact column of both cartridges
there is only 3 in the left column, the black contacts are shaped like an “e” and for the color one, its a full “roundish” shape.
I bet its something REALLY simple, if I could upload a pic, I could show you. I’ve refilled my color one, no problems. but it won’t recognize the black. I have a huge show in 5 days, and I NEED to print stuff! could someone please explain it (again) please? thank you so much! (if I had the money, I’d just get another but right now…). I DO have another (empty now) black cartridge, but no screw-thingy to drill the hole… any suggestions on getting that hole done?
lastly WHEN I can figure out this contact thing, do I do the color one even though it is being recognized?
I really hope someone can explain it, show me a picture or something. please! 🙂 thanks so much! Cynthia 😳
